The Ministry of Finance has celebrated Ghanaian culture with a fugu showcase as part of activities marking this year’s Client Service Week.
The event saw directors and staff dressed in Ghana’s traditional smock, popularly known as fugu, and showcasing their outfits in a friendly inter-divisional competition held on the Ministry’s premises.
The initiative aimed to promote the wearing of fugu, celebrate Ghana’s cultural heritage and strengthen teamwork and staff engagement to improve service delivery.
The competition brought together management and staff, with directors cheering on their respective divisions as participants took to the runway.
The Director of Human Capital and General Administration, Cynthia Arthur, commended management for introducing the initiative, describing it as an innovative way to promote Ghanaian culture within the Ministry.
She noted that the event was particularly memorable given the Ministry’s role in fiscal management, adding that it offered staff an opportunity to interact beyond their usual professional responsibilities while celebrating an important aspect of Ghanaian identity.
This year’s Client Service Week is being held under the theme, “The Extra Mile – Driven by PEER, Committed to Excellence.”
The theme highlights the importance of exceeding routine expectations to deliver quality services and improve the experiences of clients and stakeholders.
Other activities planned for the week include roundtable discussions to encourage the exchange of ideas, debates to promote critical thinking and constructive engagement, and the recognition of outstanding participants and divisions for their contributions to service excellence.
The Ministry said the activities were expected to reinforce its service delivery values while encouraging staff to embrace innovation, collaboration and professionalism in their engagements with clients and stakeholders.
