Muhammad Sadeq, an Afghan father with 58 surviving children, has revealed that he struggles to remember their names because of the size of his family.
Sadeq, who lives in a rural village in Afghanistan, has fathered more than 70 children, but 12 of them have died. His youngest surviving child is just three months old.
In a BBC documentary, Sadeq admitted that he often resorts to calling his children by general terms rather than their individual names.
“I cannot remember all their names. Most of the time, I simply call them ‘son’ or ‘child’,” he said.
The documentary offers a glimpse into the family’s difficult living conditions, showing children moving around a rural compound with mud-walled buildings and dimly lit interiors.
The family reportedly struggles to meet its most basic needs, highlighting the challenges of raising such a large number of children in a country facing severe poverty.
Footage from the documentary was shared on Instagram and quickly gained attention.
