Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that the NDC's flagship 24-hour economy policy was just campaign propaganda to deceive Ghanaians.
Speaking at the NPP National Thanksgiving Service in Sunyani this morning, Dr. Bawumia said that after nearly two years in office, the government has failed to implement the policy because it does not understand it.
"They also promised Ghanaians they were coming with a new economy they called the 24-hour economy. We have been waiting for nearly 2 years to see it, but it has not happened. Clearly, they did not even understand what they were talking about," he said.
"They themselves don't understand it, so how can they explain it to us? It was a campaign propaganda to deceive Ghanaians. They said 1:3:3 - one job for three people, and the question Ghanaians are asking is, where are the jobs?"
Dr. Bawumia said Ghanaians were promised completion of Agenda 111 hospitals and many other things that have not happened.
He said towards 2028, the NPP will do things differently.
"So towards 2028, as we have started, we are going with ideas, costed ideas, practical ideas, workable ideas. We are not going to promise Ghanaians what we cannot do when elected," he stressed.
He added that Ghana now has a paper economy of statistics and a pocket economy of suffering, and that stability is meaningless if it does not improve people's lives.
