Investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has announced a delay in the premiere of his documentary, *Inside the Dreaded Headmaster’s Bungalow*, following technical challenges at JoyNews.

The documentary was scheduled to premiere at 9 pm on Monday, October 19, 2026, on the JoyNews YouTube channel.

However, in a Facebook post later that day, Manasseh said the planned premiere could not go ahead as advertised because of technical challenges.

“Due to technical challenges, JoyNews couldn't premiere the documentary as advertised. I will post the link here when it's published. Sorry for the inconvenience,” he wrote.

Earlier on Monday, the journalist had announced that the full documentary would be released at 9 pm, directing viewers to the JoyNews YouTube channel.

The delay means viewers will have to wait for a new publication link, which Manasseh said he would share on his Facebook page once the documentary is available.

The journalist did not provide further details about the technical challenges or indicate a new release time in his update.

14 Students,1 Headmaster: Details of Manasseh’s Obuasi SHS sexual abuse exposé

About the documentary:

The documentary centres on allegations of sexual harassment, assault and rape involving female students of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) in the Ashanti Region and its headmaster, Zakaria Abdulai.

The investigation, which was led by Manasseh, reported that complaints had been made to school management, education officials and other authorities months before the headmaster’s suspension.

According to Manasseh, the initial information he received concerned five students. The number of students who came forward increased to 14 when he visited the school, before two additional students reportedly made similar allegations, bringing the total to 16. The accounts formed part of the investigation into the alleged misconduct at the school.

The investigation also raised questions about how complaints were handled by school authorities and education officials. Reports cited petitions from students, parents and teachers, including a February 2026 petition by the school’s Girl Child Coordinator and safeguarding teacher seeking an immediate, impartial and confidential investigation. The report further examined allegations that some influential individuals had intervened in earlier cases, although some of those accused disputed the claims.

Following the revelations, Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu, on October 13, 2026, directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to suspend Abdulai pending a full investigation. The minister also requested that the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service investigate the allegations. Abdulai has declined to comment on the allegations, citing the ongoing investigations. The claims remain subject to investigation and have not been established as proven facts.

The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has also reportedly directed Abdulai, who serves as the party’s secretary for the Juaben Constituency in the Ashanti Region, to withdraw from a chairperson race he had filed to contest or risk disqualification.
