Ghanaian filmmaker Anita Afonu has shared how former United States President Barack Obama, who is also an executive producer of the yet-to-be-aired Eyes of Ghana documentary, loved the movie after watching it for the first time.
In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie on October 17, 2026, Anita Afonu noted that President Barack Obama did not interfere in the editing of the documentary.
According to her, the former US president did not sit in the editing room while the final work was being done.

She explained that President Obama enjoyed the movie during his first viewing and did not leave any notes requesting changes to any part of the work.
“President Obama did not sit with us in the editing room, supervising every cut. He watched the film; he loved it, no notes, and that was it,” she said.
Anita Afonu also shared how American streamer IShowSpeed was included in the documentary as an executive producer.

She explained that during IShowSpeed’s visit to Ghana, the production team considered it a good idea to bring him on board because of his large following.
According to Anita, IShowSpeed also fell in love with the movie the first time he watched it.
“We felt that with him having such a big following and him coming to Ghana, and him identifying so much with the country, it would be great to have him come on board and run into the theatres to go see the film. And of course, when he saw the film, he jumped at it,” she added.
