Former Agona West Member of Parliament Cynthia Morrison has reaffirmed her membership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), dismissing suggestions that her decision to contest the 2024 parliamentary election as an independent candidate meant she had abandoned the party.

She said she remained actively involved in politics despite losing the 2024 elections, adding that she had no regrets about her independent candidacy, although she wished the NPP had retained the Agona West parliamentary seat.

Speaking in an interview on Starr FM on October 16, 2026, Morrison disclosed that she had been occupied with her businesses and other personal engagements since leaving Parliament but continued to participate in political activities.

Asked whether she was still a member of the NPP, she responded, “I am a member. Did I leave NPP?”

The former MP explained that her decision to contest independently was influenced by circumstances she felt required attention, particularly concerns about how grievances were handled within the party.

Drawing a comparison with disputes among children, she said ignoring complaints of bullying could have lasting emotional consequences if parents failed to understand the concerns of those involved.

Morrison said her relationship with the people of Agona West extended beyond politics, describing the constituency as an integral part of her life.

According to her, her commitment to the constituency was driven not only by her responsibilities as an MP but also by her personal relationship with the people, particularly because her husband comes from the area.

She explained that many of her interventions were motivated by a desire to support residents who had welcomed her into their community.
