The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has granted Suame MP, John Darko enquiry bail after he honoured an invitation to assist investigations into an alleged criminal conspiracy linked to an estimated GH¢27 million loss at SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
In a statement issued on October 13, 2026, EOCO said the New Patriotic Party (NPP) legislator reported to its office at exactly 12 noon and cooperated with investigators throughout the process.
The office said its decision to grant him enquiry bail was based on the circumstances of the case, the applicable law, and his level of cooperation with investigators.
“Having regard to the circumstances of the case, the applicable law, and the Honourable Member's level of cooperation with investigators, the Office granted him enquiry bail,” the statement said.
EOCO also disclosed that Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah, the former Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, had honoured a separate invitation and was cooperating with investigators.
The investigations centre on an alleged criminal conspiracy that has resulted in a revised estimate of approximately GH¢27 million in financial losses to SIC Savings and Loans Company Limited.
However, EOCO cautioned against drawing conclusions about the involvement of any of the persons being investigated, stressing that the case remains active.
“As the investigation remains active, no conclusion has been reached regarding the culpability or otherwise of any person connected to the matter,” the office stated.
EOCO added that investigations were progressing steadily in line with its case theory.
The latest development forms part of the office's ongoing efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged financial loss. No finding of criminal liability has been made against any person in connection with the case.
