Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has announced the repatriation of 120 Nigerian nationals rescued during an anti-cybercrime operation in Ghana.

The operation, dubbed Operation Cyberhunt, was led by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) in collaboration with local security and intelligence agencies and their counterparts in the United Kingdom, Nigeria and the United States.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, George expressed gratitude to the Ghana Air Force and the Ministry of Defence for facilitating the repatriation of the 120 Nigerians, who he said had been trafficked to Ghana and forced to work in cybercrime operations.

“My sincere gratitude goes to the Ghana Air Force and the Ministry of Defence, Ghana, for facilitating the repatriation of 120 Nigerian nationals who were arrested during #OperationCyberhunt,” he wrote.

According to the minister, the operation led to the rescue of the victims and the seizure of several items suspected to have been used in the activities.

The items recovered included 136 mobile phones, 130 laptops, internet connectivity devices and four motor vehicles. One of the vehicles, he said, had been reported stolen in Canada.

The search team also recovered jewellery and 10 Nigerian passports.

George disclosed that investigations were ongoing, with eight other persons being processed for prosecution.

He said the government remained committed to tackling cybercrime and preventing Ghana from becoming a haven for criminal networks.

“The team is processing 8 other persons for prosecution, and Ghana under President John Dramani Mahama will remain an unfavourable destination for cyber criminals,” he stated.

The minister’s announcement highlights the authorities’ continued efforts to combat cybercrime and human trafficking through cooperation with local and international security agencies.
