A 14-year-old Junior High School (JHS) pupil, Keziah Mirekua, has died after reportedly setting herself ablaze at a school park in Mpraeso Amanfrom in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, with conflicting accounts from family members over allegations that pregnancy-related issues may have contributed to the incident.
Keziah, a final-year pupil of Mpraeso Amanfrom Basic School, reportedly sustained severe burns and was rushed to a hospital for treatment before her death.
According to a report by adomonline.com on October 13, 2026, the deceased’s grandmother, Christiana Nkansah, said the family had been informed that the incident might have been linked to pregnancy allegations involving a young man who allegedly denied responsibility.
She further indicated that Keziah reportedly made some disclosures while receiving treatment at the hospital.

However, the deceased’s mother and sister have disputed claims that she was pregnant, insisting that the allegations do not reflect what they know about her condition before the incident.
In separate interviews, the two family members acknowledged that Keziah was reportedly involved in a relationship with a young man but maintained that she was not pregnant.
They suspect that other factors may have contributed to the incident and have called for a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances that led to her death.
The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the events preceding the tragedy, with the family seeking answers to what happened to the young student.
