Sports broadcaster Ekow Asmah has accused Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, of being deceptive in his claims that Sports and Recreation Minister Kofi Adams added four names to a list of 90 individuals submitted by the National Sports Authority (NSA) in connection with Ghana’s 2026 World Cup visa scandal.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Asmah argued that the four individuals in question were flagged separately and were not included in the list of 90 names the NSA submitted to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation.
According to him, the NSA did not forward the four names to the Ministry for notification, insisting that the individuals were distinct from those on the original list of 90.
“The list that the NSA sent to the Ministry does not include any of the four, which is contrary to what Assafuah has said,” Asmah stated.
He alleged that Assafuah presented the documents in a manner that suggested the four names had been attached to the original list of 90, adding that the minister had considered them as part of that list.
“It’s deceptive. It’s totally deceptive because the four is totally different from the 90. And the four, I’ve checked thoroughly. There’s nobody on the four who’s in the 90,” he said.

Asmah maintained that the minister should also be scrutinised over his handling of the matter, arguing that Kofi Adams ought to have verified the information before proceeding.
He described the minister’s failure to establish whether the four names formed part of the original list as negligence, stressing that he supports investigations into all allegations surrounding the controversy.
“So me, I’m for all investigations. So the minister was not diligent enough on that. He was negligent on not asking to check if indeed it was so,” he said.
The broadcaster, however, distinguished his criticism of the minister from his allegations against Assafuah, insisting that both public officials should be held accountable for their respective actions.
Asmah called for Assafuah to be investigated over his presentation of the documents, while maintaining that the minister should have exercised greater diligence in verifying the information.
“If he can be investigated, let it be so,” he added.
