Femi Asante, a lawyer and entrepreneur, has recounted how her life changed after her husband, Nana Asante Bediatuo, suffered a stroke, forcing her to adjust her daily routine and priorities.

In a podcast interview with The Peswa, Femi said her husband suffered the stroke shortly after she arrived in London, forcing her to return to New York.

She explained that the situation also affected their family, with her younger children staying behind for six months as she dealt with the challenges that followed her husband's illness.

“When my husband suffered a stroke, I had just arrived in London when I got the call, and I had to head back to New York, and for six months, my younger children were here,” she said.

Femi said the experience changed her daily routine and the things she had to prioritise, but she relied on her faith to get through the difficult period.

“My whole life changed, like everything just changed. My daily routine, what I had to do, what I had to prioritize and stuff, but I just kept going because God's grace carried me through,” she added.

Despite the challenges, she said her husband's determination to recover had been a source of encouragement.

She also praised the progress he had made since suffering the stroke, describing him as her hero.

“After he had a stroke, coming back and seeing how much progress that he's made and continues to make, and his resilience and his determination, he's my hero. You know, for him to be able to keep going in the face of everything. I'm not the strong one in this picture. He is.

“So, I look back, and I'm like, I don't even know how we did it, from when he just had suffered a stroke for him to be able to resume normalcy now and be able to walk again, to talk and it reminds me of how good God is,” she added.

It will be recalled that Nana Asante Bediatuo, a former Executive Secretary to ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, reportedly fell ill in 2024. The then Office of the President issued a statement following rumours of his death.

The statement said Bediatuo had been admitted to the hospital, in stable condition, and responding well to treatment.

“Following the conclusion of the meeting of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, in the United States of America, where he served as a key member of President Akufo-Addo’s delegation, Nana Asante Bediatuo stayed behind to conduct further government business.
