Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Essikado-Ketan, Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, has urged his supporters to suspend all campaign activities in compliance with a directive from the party’s headquarters.

In a press statement dated Monday, October 12, 2026, Bissue said he would comply with the directive asking prospective parliamentary aspirants and their supporters to cease campaigning until further notice.

He said several party members in Essikado-Ketan had encouraged him to begin his campaign but maintained that he would wait until the internal elections were over.

“Many Party Members in Essikado-Ketan have invited me to commence my campaign. My consistent response has been to await the end of the internal elections,” he stated.

Bissue, who described himself as a long-standing party member, said he had held various positions within the NPP and helped shape its rules, adding that he had a responsibility to lead by example.

He, therefore, appealed to his supporters not to publish or circulate materials promoting his candidature until the party gives permission.

“I entreat all my supporters and Party Members not to post or circulate any material promoting me. We shall resume only when the Party permits,” he said.

The former parliamentary candidate also expressed concern about insults and personal attacks among NPP members on WhatsApp platforms.

He cautioned party members against engaging in such conduct, arguing that it could undermine the party’s unity.

“I do not believe in the politics of insults; it does not augur well for our Party. I urge all my supporters to desist immediately. Let us compete on ideas, not insults,” he said.

Bissue acknowledged that party members might have competing interests during the internal elections but stressed that they remained part of the same political family.

“We may be opponents for a season, but we remain one family,” he added.

He further called for discipline and unity among party members, saying these would be essential to the party’s electoral ambitions ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“Only through discipline and unity can we win in 2028,” he stated.

The statement comes as the NPP prepares for its internal electoral processes, which will determine its parliamentary candidates for the next general election.
