Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has engaged Norman Harold, husband of Nana Akua Addo, following his discharge from the hospital amid an ongoing police investigation into allegations of domestic abuse involving his family.

Harold was unavailable when the minister visited the family earlier because he was receiving medical care.

During the meeting, Dr Lartey stressed that the immediate priority was to protect the safety, wellbeing and emotional welfare of the family, particularly the children.

She emphasised the need to provide the children with a safe and stable environment free from conflict and circumstances that could negatively affect their development.

The minister further underscored the importance of placing the children’s welfare at the centre of efforts by the Ministry and other relevant institutions to address the situation.

She also highlighted the need for appropriate psychosocial and social welfare support to safeguard the emotional wellbeing of all family members.

As part of the ongoing support arrangements, social welfare officers will be involved in monitoring the children’s welfare and helping to ensure that their safety and best interests remain a priority.

The Ministry said it would continue collaborating with the Ghana Police Service and other relevant institutions to support the family’s welfare while police investigations continue.

The engagement follows public attention surrounding allegations of domestic abuse involving Nana Akua Addo and her husband, which have prompted police investigations.
