The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Faculty of Law has produced 11 winners of the John Mensah Sarbah Award since 2011, making it the institution with the most recipients of the honour over the period.
The latest winner is Akosua Achiaa Sarpong, who received the award for the best all-round performance in the Professional Law Examinations at the 63rd Call to the Bar ceremony in 2026.
Her win extends KNUST’s run to four consecutive years, following victories by Ebenezer Addai Osei in 2023, Martin Waana-Ang in 2024 and Latifa Teiya Fuseini in 2025.
The university’s record in the award stretches back to 2011, when Linda Mensah became the first KNUST graduate on the list. Hagar Addo followed in 2013, Nada Belinda Aidoo in 2014 and Grace Esi Sackey in 2015.
Emmanuel Kyei won in 2016, while Kezia Owusu Ansah received the award in 2019. Samuel Pinaman Adomako added another win in 2021, followed by Ebenezer Addai Osei in 2023.
Martin Waana-Ang, Latifa Teiya Fuseini and Sarpong then secured the award for KNUST in 2024, 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Although KNUST leads the record, graduates from other institutions have also won the award.
