The once quiet and serene neighbourhood of Kokrobite was thrown into shock in 2020 when Claudia Weizmann, a German national, and her teenage daughter were murdered by her partner, Boigouna Aloys, who later buried their bodies on the compound.

The disturbing case came to light after neighbors became concerned about the prolonged absence of 53-year-old Claudia and her 13-year-old daughter and noticed a strong unpleasant smell coming from their property.

According to media reports, Aloys began living with Claudia and her daughter at their Kokrobite residence in January 2020.

Police account disclosed that a disagreement between Aloys and Claudia led to the attack in which he reportedly hit Claudia on the head with a hammer, killing her.

He is further said to have strangled her daughter, allegedly because he feared she would report the killing to the police.

Aloys subsequently buried both bodies in the bush of the compound in an attempt to conceal the killings. The then Accra Regional Police spokesperson, DSP Effia Tenge, said Aloys confessed to the murders.

Aloys was later arrested on October 8, 2020, and convicted in 2024 by the High Court in Accra on two counts of murder, where the prosecution, led by Assistant State Attorney Yvonne Yaachie Adomako, called five witnesses.

He was found guilty by a seven-member jury after a trial and was sentenced to life imprisonment.
