An alumna of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Faculty of Law, Akosua Achiaa Sarpong, has won the John Mensah Sarbah Award for the best all-round performance in the Professional Law Examinations at the 63rd Call to the Bar ceremony.
She also won the Best Student in Civil Procedure award, making her one of the top-performing graduates at this year’s ceremony.

The John Mensah Sarbah Memorial Prize is presented to the student with the best overall performance in the Professional Law Examinations.
The achievement of Sarpong, who is also an old student of Notre Dame Girls Senior High School in the Bono Region, also marks the 11th time a graduate of KNUST Faculty of Law has won the award since 2011, and the fourth consecutive year since 2023.
Three KNUST law graduates won a total of four awards at the ceremony.
It will be recalled that the 2025 Overall Best Fresh Lawyer, Latifa Teiya Fuseini, was also a graduate of the KNUST Faculty of Law and received the John Mensah Sarbah Prize.
The 63rd Call to the Bar ceremony saw 1,568 lawyers-in-waiting formally admitted as Barristers and Solicitors of the Supreme Court of Ghana.

The cohort included several prominent figures in politics and public service, including Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Sam George, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Naa Ashorkor Mensah Doku, Phylis Naa Koryo Okunor and Umaru Sanda.
