Renowned media personality Andy Dosty has expressed anger over claims by Old Tafo Member of Parliament Vincent Ekow Assafuah that the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) submitted his name to the United States Embassy for visa facilitation.

During a press conference held by the Minority, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Youth and Sports Committee claimed that the Hitz FM presenter was among those whose names were submitted by the GTA for visa facilitation ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He went on to call for the dismissal of the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, and the GTA CEO, Maame Efua Houadjeto, as police investigations into the matter continue.

In response, Andy Dosty denied the claims, insisting that his visa for the 2026 World Cup period was not facilitated by the GTA. He said he paid his own visa fees and booked an appointment himself.

The media personality added that he was in talks with his lawyer about taking action over what he described as unfounded claims that were damaging his reputation.

“...Walas, if it were GTA, NSA, or Tribe, how come I paid for my own visa fee, booked a date? I have got receipts of paying the guy, Nana B, my friend. What has that got to do with me? What is happening? This is really worrying me; I don’t like that. I am in touch with my lawyer to see the way forward, because we all don’t understand,” he said in an interview with Asempa FM.

Vincent Assafuah, in response, maintained that Andy Dosty was among the list of 50 individuals whose names were submitted by the GTA to the US Embassy for visa facilitation.

However, he clarified that there were initial plans to take the individuals to the tournament and that their inclusion on the list did not necessarily mean that visas had been obtained for them. He also challenged the GTA CEO to deny the existence of the list if the claim was untrue.

“But before then, on my way here, I saw a video from Andy Dosty saying he obtained his visa himself, not through the GTA or the GFA. You remember yesterday I mentioned the 50 list that was submitted by the GTA to the embassy, which list had only two people who were media people. So that is what I said.

"The list that was submitted by the GTA had only two people. It is not synonymous with saying that his visa was obtained by the GTA or the GFA. So there were initial plans to take these people. So his name was part of the list that was sent by Maame Efua. Unless, of course, Maame Efua will say that there is no list at all. So that is the answer that I have from Dusty,” he said.

Meanwhile, the police are investigating the case to identify and bring anyone found culpable to book.
