Ghana’s Black Queens secured a commanding 3-0 victory over Mauritius in the first leg of their 2028 Olympic Games qualifier at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex on Thursday, October 8, 2026.

The Black Queens made a bright start and were rewarded with the opening goal as Abigail Kim put Ghana ahead with just 16 minutes on the clock.

Alice Kusi doubled the advantage in the 24th minute, putting the visitors firmly in control before Benedicte Simon added a third goal deep into first-half stoppage time with a long-range effort, her first for the Black Queens.

Ghana went into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead and continued to dominate proceedings after the restart as they looked to extend their advantage ahead of the return fixture.

Jennifer Cudjoe, who captained the side, came close to adding a fourth when her free-kick in the 78th minute rattled the crossbar.

The Black Queens ultimately had to settle for the three goals, but the result gives them a strong advantage heading into the second leg on home soil.

Afi Amenyeku started in goal for Ghana, while Margaret Agyapomaa and Diana Amoako were handed their first starts for the national team.

The victory puts Ghana in a favourable position as they seek to advance in the qualification race for the 2028 Olympic Games.

The Black Queens will now turn their attention to the return fixture, where they will look to complete the job and secure progression.
