President John Dramani Mahama is expected to cut sod in the coming weeks for the construction of the Accra Convention Centre, a major investment by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

The 81,422-square-metre facility, which will be located at the Trade Fair Centre, is expected to provide modern infrastructure for conferences, high-level meetings and other major events.

The centre will feature a 3,000-seater main conference hall, a Presidential Hall for high-level meetings, four large auditoriums and other modern amenities.

Minister of State for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, announced the development in a post shared on X on October 7, 2026.

The project is expected to strengthen Ghana’s capacity to host large-scale international conferences and events while adding to the existing infrastructure at the Trade Fair Centre.

Further details on the construction timeline and other components of the project are expected to be announced as preparations for the sod-cutting ceremony progress.
