Kwame Baah-Nuakoh has argued that the government cannot expect to influence football decision-making if it does not invest in the development and running of the game.

Speaking on Sporty FM, he noted that the voting structure of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is heavily tilted towards clubs, with officials making up a significant portion of those who take part in elections.

According to him, government must have a stake in how clubs are funded and managed if it wants to have a say in decisions affecting Ghana football.

“If you don’t invest anything in the game, don’t expect to have power or control,” Baah-Nuakoh said.

He explained that club owners and officials often rely on their personal resources to keep their clubs running, yet government expects to influence how they vote during football elections.

Baah-Nuakoh further argued that although the government may not appear to have direct control over clubs, its primary interest remains the national teams.

“The truth is that we don’t really care about them and their clubs. What we care about is the national teams. But national teams belong to the state,”he added.
