Women continue to make their mark in Ghana’s corporate and financial sectors, taking up senior positions in some of the country’s biggest companies and institutions.
Their influence cuts across banking, telecommunications, real estate, insurance, investment, capital markets and digital payments, with several of them overseeing institutions that play important roles in Ghana’s economy.
Here are 10 women currently at the helm of major companies and institutions in Ghana.
Abena Osei-Poku – Ecobank Ghana
Abena Osei-Poku has been Managing Director of Ecobank Ghana and Regional Executive for the Anglophone West Africa Cluster since January 2024.
With more than 25 years of experience in financial services, she oversees Ecobank Ghana as well as the group’s operations in Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and The Gambia.
She also serves as Vice Chairperson of the Ghana Stock Exchange board.
Patricia Obo-Nai – Telecel Ghana
Patricia Obo-Nai has led Telecel Ghana since 2019, when the company was still operating under the Vodafone brand.
She became the first Ghanaian to serve as CEO of Vodafone Ghana and remained in the role after Telecel Group acquired Vodafone Ghana’s majority stake in 2023.
She has since overseen the company’s transition from Vodafone to the Telecel brand.

Pearl Nkrumah – Access Bank Ghana
Pearl Nkrumah heads Access Bank Ghana as its Managing Director.
She previously served as Executive Director of Retail and Digital Banking, having risen through the bank’s leadership structure.
Nkrumah has more than 25 years of banking experience and has worked across Access Bank’s operations in Africa.
Aretha Abena Abrafi Duku – Ghana Union Assurance
Aretha Abena Abrafi Duku is the Managing Director of Ghana Union Assurance, with more than 28 years of experience in insurance and risk management.
Her career has taken her across Ghana, Europe, South Africa and other parts of West Africa.
She has also served as President of the African Insurance Organisation and the Ghana Insurers Association.
Akosua Ansah-Antwi – Enterprise Insurance
Akosua Ansah-Antwi became Managing Director of Enterprise Insurance in July 2023.
She previously served as General Manager, Operations and Acting Managing Director.
With more than 22 years of experience in insurance, Ansah-Antwi is both a lawyer and a Chartered Insurer.
Enterprise Insurance, which traces its roots to 1924, is one of Ghana’s oldest insurance companies.
Dr Theresa Oppong-Beeko – MANET Group
Dr Theresa Oppong-Beeko is the founder and CEO/President of MANET Group, a business group with interests in real estate, construction, commercial property and hospitality.
She founded Manet Housing in 1994 after returning to school and earning an MBA.
The group has since expanded into residential development, commercial buildings, construction and hospitality.
Madeline Nettey – CAL Asset Management Company Ltd
Madeline Nettey is the Chief Executive Officer of CAL Asset Management Company Limited.
She is an investment and finance professional with experience in Ghana’s asset management and securities industry.
She served as Chief Executive Officer of Republic Investments Ghana for the past 7 years.
Nettey holds a first-class degree in Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and an MPhil in Finance from the University of Cambridge.
Abena Amoah – Ghana Stock Exchange
Abena Amoah became Managing Director of the Ghana Stock Exchange in November 2022, becoming the first woman to hold the position.
She joined the GSE in 2020 as Deputy Managing Director and has more than 20 years of experience in Ghana’s capital markets.
In June 2026, she became Chairperson of the International Capital Market Association’s Committee of Regional Representatives.
Clara B. Arthur – GhIPSS
Clara B. Arthur is the Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GhIPSS), a subsidiary of the Bank of Ghana.
She heads the institution responsible for operating key components of Ghana’s payment infrastructure, including GhIPSS Instant Pay and the Mobile Money Interoperability platform.
Before becoming CEO, Arthur served as General Manager for Projects and Business Development at GhIPSS.

Matilda Asante-Asiedu – Bank of Ghana
Matilda Asante-Asiedu serves as Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
She was sworn into office in May 2025 and is a member of the central bank’s Monetary Policy Committee.
Before joining the Bank of Ghana, she was Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank Ghana, where she led the bank’s women-focused W Initiative.
She now oversees several areas of the central bank’s operations, including banking supervision, financial stability and the Collateral Registry.
A growing presence in Ghana's corporate leadership
The careers of these women highlight the growing presence of female executives in senior leadership positions across Ghana’s corporate and financial sectors.
While women remain underrepresented in top-level corporate leadership, their increasing presence in banking, telecommunications, insurance, investment, capital markets and digital payments reflects a broader shift in Ghana’s business landscape.
Their positions place them at the centre of major decisions affecting businesses, consumers and financial institutions across the country.
