Ghanaians have expressed frustration following the Black Stars’ 4-2 defeat to The Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The defeat has intensified calls for major changes within Ghana football, with some supporters demanding an overhaul of the current Black Stars setup and urging Sports Minister Kofi Adams to take decisive action to restore the team’s fortunes.
One supporter described the result as embarrassing, particularly because Ghana surrendered a two-goal lead before conceding four times.
“For our pedigree in football, in African football, it's an embarrassing defeat. I think we need to do better and then let's see in the next two matches whether we can do something better,” he said.
However, another supporter argued that repeatedly changing coaches would not address the underlying problems affecting Ghana football.

“I think it's not the coaches' fault because you can keep changing coaches and then the results will be the same,” he said.
He instead called for reforms in the structure of Ghana football, including greater investment in the Ghana Premier League and youth development.
“I think it should be our structure, how we structure our football, that's the problem. Once we get it right, as the Gambians have gotten it right, we can also do better,” he added.
Not all supporters agreed. Another fan placed the blame squarely on the technical team, repeatedly insisting that the coaches must take responsibility for the disappointing result.
