Executive Council Member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo, has apologised to Ghanaians following the Black Stars’ embarrassing defeat to The Gambia at the Accra Sports Stadium.
According to him, the football association is deeply concerned about the state of the Black Stars and the fact that some fans made time to watch the game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He also called on Ghanaian youth who placed bets on the game and lost to pardon them, as the association will continue to work diligently to restore the glory of the Black Stars.
7 Games, 4 losses, 1 Win: Carlos Queiroz’s difficult tenure with the Black Stars
“We are pleading with the Ghanaians to forgive us, especially the Gen Z youths whose bets got spoiled. We will take it from there and move ahead. It is painful due to the defeat, especially when people made time to watch the game, and I am telling the Gen Z’s whose bets got spoiled that we will make amends,” Oduro Sarfo said in Twi during an interview with Asempa FM.
This comes as there have been calls on the government to dissolve the GFA and the Black Stars, regardless of the repercussions, to revamp football activities in the country.
Following the two consecutive defeats, Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia lead Group C with six points each, while Ghana and Somalia lie at the bottom with zero points after two games.
