A Ghanaian man living in the United Kingdom has claimed that working as a cleaner abroad is financially more rewarding than holding a white-collar job in Ghana.
According to him, differences in living standards and purchasing power make even a cleaning job in the UK more attractive than a well-paying office position in Ghana.
Speaking in a viral video sighted by GhanaWeb on September 28, 2026, he said living abroad offers significantly better opportunities, insisting that he would choose a cleaning job in the UK over an office job in Ghana.
“This place is better than Ghana 10,000 times. It is good to live abroad,” he said.
The man further argued that earning what many would consider a good salary in Ghana does not necessarily guarantee financial stability.
He specifically cited a monthly salary of GH¢15,000, saying an individual earning that amount in Ghana could still struggle financially without resorting to stealing.

“Even if you are paid GH¢15,000 in Ghana, you won’t be able to succeed unless you steal,” he asserted.
He maintained that a cleaning job abroad can offer better financial prospects than a white-collar position in Ghana, despite the difference in the social perception of the two jobs.
“Cleaning job is far better than a well-paying white-collar job in Ghana” he added.
