Young Ghanaians are set to benefit from a new Ghana-China programme that will provide training in Artificial Intelligence (AI), scholarships, internships and potential job opportunities in the technology sector.

The China-Ghana Youth AI Talent Development Programme was launched on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at Zhoukou Normal University in Henan Province, China, by Ghana’s Ambassador to China, Kojo Bonsu.

The programme is being implemented through the Ambassador’s GenZ AI Club in partnership with Beijing-based APUS Technology Co. Ltd. and Zhoukou Normal University.

As part of the programme, selected Ghanaian youth will undergo a one-year training programme covering AI and data science, with scholarship opportunities available to participants in both Ghana and China.

Speaking at the launch, Ambassador Kojo Bonsu said the initiative was designed to help young Ghanaians move beyond using technology to developing solutions with it.

“We must move from being consumers of technology to becoming creators and developers,” he said.

He said the programme would help build a network of young Ghanaian professionals capable of applying AI to challenges in sectors including agriculture, healthcare, education and finance.

Participants based in China will attend classes physically, while students in Ghana will participate virtually, creating an opportunity for young people from both countries to learn and collaborate.

Beyond classroom training, outstanding participants are expected to receive internship opportunities with APUS Technology, with selected candidates also potentially receiving job contracts during and after the one-year programme.

The initiative builds on the GenZ AI Club’s earlier collaboration with APUS Technology.

Bonsu also encouraged participants to share the knowledge and skills they acquire with other students, universities and technology communities in Ghana.

The programme is expected to strengthen cooperation between Ghana and China in technology and education while helping create a pool of young professionals capable of developing and applying AI solutions to Ghana’s economic and social needs.
