The Black Stars squad have begun their training session ahead of the crucial tie against The Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on September 29, 2026.

All the players in camp were present for the session, with no injuries or withdrawals reported so far, unlike what happened before camping officially began.

The players went through various training drills, including warm-ups, playing short passes, and stretching while lying on the ground under the guidance of members of the technical team.

Goalkeepers Benjamin Asare and Lawrence Ati-Zigi were also in the post, taking instructions from Black Stars goalkeeper coach Daniel Gaspar.

Speaking about the training session, Gaspar stated that the three goalkeepers stand out on the continent based on what he has observed from their performances so far.

“We are fortunate to be back, very fortunate to be here. We had three outstanding goalkeepers in mind. I have no doubt it is the best assembly of goalkeepers in Africa, and I believe that they believe, and we continue our mission to bring glory to the people,” he told the media.

The team lost its first game against Côte d'Ivoire in what was a shambolic performance from most of the key players who were expected to rise to the occasion.

The Black Stars are currently bottom of Group C with zero points, the same as Somalia, while Côte d'Ivoire and The Gambia occupy the top two spots with three points each.
