The Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has announced that the Government of Ghana has formally handed over the site to a contractor for the construction of a 160-bed Savannah Regional Referral Hospital at Damongo.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the site handover took place on Friday, September 25, 2026, marking the commencement of preparations for the construction of the health facility.

In a post shared on X on Sunday, September 27, 2026, he said the project forms part of the government’s efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and delivery across the country.

The 160-bed facility is expected to serve as a major referral centre for residents of the Savannah Region, providing access to a wider range of healthcare services.

The project is also expected to strengthen the region’s healthcare system and reduce the need for residents to travel outside the region for referral and specialised medical care.
