New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Organiser, Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has accused the government of trying to divert attention from the recent cocaine controversy by targeting MP for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.

His comments come amid growing political debate over recent cocaine seizures and allegations about how narcotics have moved through Ghanaian ports.

Speaking in a video posted on X and sighted by GhanaWeb on Friday September 25, 2026, Nana B said the reported movement of a large quantity of cocaine from Ghana to France has raised serious concerns about the country’s international image.

He questioned how a consignment containing cocaine equivalent to about 80 bags of 50-kilogramme cement could pass through Ghana’s ports and reach France.

According to him, the situation has become an international embarrassment for Ghana, especially following reports that French authorities have raised concerns about the country’s handling of drug trafficking.

Nana B said the development could damage the reputation of Ghana and affect how Ghanaian travellers and businesses are treated abroad.

He further criticised the government over what he described as an attempt to shift attention from the cocaine controversy to the reported arrest attempt involving a lawyer and MP for Manhyia South, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah.

“You wanted to cover the cocaine saga by attempting to arrest a lawyer who was defending his client. NDC cocaine aban!” Nana B said.

He said the issue should not be pushed aside through what he described as efforts to focus public attention on the lawyer’s case.

“NDC cocaine aban!” he repeated, accusing the government of failing to properly address the concerns surrounding the cocaine shipments.

Nana B also used the controversy to describe Ghana as a “Cocaine Coast” under the current administration, contrasting it with the country’s historical identity as the “Gold Coast. This is international embarrassment,” he said.

He added that the situation was “shameful” and called for greater attention to the circumstances surrounding the movement of cocaine through Ghana’s ports.

The government and other actors have disputed aspects of the opposition’s claims, while calls have been made for investigations into the circumstances surrounding the seizures.
