The 24-Hour Economy Secretariat is set to support the 6th Inter Tourism Expo as organisers seek to leverage Ghana’s tourism sector to attract investment, create jobs and increase economic activity.

The move follows a meeting between Presidential Adviser on the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development Programme, Augustine Tanoh, and the organising committee of the Expo on September 17, 2026.

The team was led by Chairman Emmanuel Treku and Chief Executive Officer Beauty Kabukie Apedoe.

The planned collaboration comes at a time when tourism is becoming an important source of foreign exchange and business activity for Ghana.

The country recorded 1,306,962 international tourist arrivals in 2025 and generated an estimated US$4.34 billion in tourism revenue. Licensed tourism enterprises also increased from 6,702 in 2024 to 7,109 in 2025.

Tanoh welcomed the initiative and said the Secretariat was prepared to provide support on behalf of the Presidency. He said the Expo could provide a platform to connect tourism with the government’s wider economic programme.

“The 24-Hour Economy Secretariat is prepared to support the Expo on behalf of the Presidency and explore areas where the event can contribute directly to investment, job creation and economic development.”

Chairman Emmanuel Treku said the Expo would showcase Ghana’s tourism potential while creating opportunities for investors and businesses to participate in the sector.

“Our aim is to showcase Ghana’s tourism potential, attract investment and ensure that the economic returns from tourism are retained and used to support development and wealth creation for Ghanaians,” Treku said.

He said Ghana could generate greater economic value from tourism by learning from countries that have successfully developed the sector into a major source of revenue.

He added that stronger links between tourism, agribusiness, manufacturing, technology and trade could create opportunities across several parts of the economy.

“Tourism must be connected to the productive economy so that it can create jobs, develop local value chains, attract capital and generate opportunities for businesses across the country,” he said.

The Expo will be held from October 21 to 23, 2026, at the Ridge Royal Hotel in Cape Coast under the theme, “Positioning Ghana as a 24-Hour Investment Economy.”

The programme will focus on agribusiness, digital sovereignty and AfCFTA industrial acceleration within Ghana’s tourism agenda.

“The Expo is intended to go beyond discussions and create practical business opportunities through investment meetings, deal-flow opportunities and direct engagement between investors, entrepreneurs and policymakers,” Treku said.

The event will include an Investment Marketplace, business-to-business sessions and presentations aimed at creating business linkages.

Organisers are also engaging institutions including the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority, Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana International Trade Commission, Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Regional House of Chiefs.

“The partnership with the 24-Hour Economy Secretariat is important because the outcomes of the Expo must be linked to the government’s transformation agenda and show how tourism can contribute to employment, investment, value-chain development and regional economic activity,” Treku added.

The Inter Tourism Expo and Conference is an annual event designed to promote Ghana’s historical and cultural attractions, connect tourism businesses with investors and create opportunities for local and international partnerships.
