A three-month-old baby has died and several other passengers sustained injuries following a head-on collision on the Bompata-Wenchi road in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The crash involved a Hyundai vehicle travelling from Adomfe to Konongo and a bus reportedly travelling from Accra to Kumasi.

According to a report by adomonline.com on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, the accident occurred after the bus allegedly veered into the opposite lane while overtaking, resulting in a head-on collision with the Hyundai vehicle.

Assembly Member for the area, Doris Appiah, confirmed the incident and said several passengers were injured in the crash.

“Four of the injured passengers are reportedly in critical condition and have been transferred to different hospitals for further medical attention,” the report said.

Other victims are receiving treatment at the Juaso Government Hospital as medical personnel attend to those affected by the accident.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are still under investigation, with authorities expected to establish the exact cause of the collision.
