A middle-aged woman has reportedly died after she was knocked down by an ‘aboboyaa’ at Ofankor Barrier, weeks after a major accident at the same location claimed 12 lives.

According to a post shared on X, and sighted by GhanaWeb on September 22, 2026, the latest incident occurred at the spot where the fatal crash was recorded in August 2026.

The incident has renewed concerns among residents over road safety at the busy stretch, with calls for authorities to take urgent measures to prevent further loss of life.

The woman was reportedly struck by the tricycle, although details surrounding the circumstances of the crash remain limited.

The latest incident comes barely weeks after a multiple-vehicle collision at Ofankor Barrier on August 13, 2026, claimed 12 lives and left several others injured.

The crash in August involved seven vehicles, including two tipper trucks, two Sprinter buses, two saloon cars and an ‘aboboyaa’.

Preliminary investigations by the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) indicated that a broken-down tricycle may have contributed to the chain of collisions.

Residents in the area are now appealing to road safety authorities to urgently assess the location and introduce measures to improve safety for both motorists and pedestrians.

They want authorities to address potential hazards at the stretch and prevent the location from becoming a recurring scene of fatal accidents.

The latest incident is expected to heighten calls for stricter enforcement of road safety regulations and better management of tricycles operating around busy sections of the Ofankor Barrier corridor.
