Nigerian business mogul, Aliko Dangote, had nothing but praise for Ghana’s President, John Dramani Mahama, at an event on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York on September 21, 2026.

The Nigerian billionaire praised President Mahama for his sound management of Ghana’s economy, which he indicated was in a very sharp decline.

He added that Mahama’s leadership has brought back confidence in the Ghanaian economy in a very short time, which he said is responsible for the economic turnaround.

“Let me first of all appreciate and congratulate my brother, His Excellency President John Mahama, for actually turning around the economy of Ghana in a very, very short time. This has actually shown that money follows trust.

“It wasn't a very good case, but when he came in, he didn't do any magic. He's not a magician, but he did the right things, and people really have a lot of trust in him, and that's why Ghana's economy turned around. Excellency, I must really congratulate you,” he said.
