The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a major reshuffle of the Black Stars technical and support structure, with former captain Asamoah Gyan, John Paintsil, Godwin Attram and Ameenu Shardow all taking up new roles within Ghana’s national-team setup.

Gyan has joined the Black Stars backroom staff as Clubs and Player Relations Manager, a strategic role focused on strengthening relations between the national team, players and their clubs, while also supporting player welfare and engagement.

Ghana’s all-time leading scorer has 51 international goals and captained the Black Stars at three FIFA World Cups.

Former Black Stars defender John Paintsil, meanwhile, has moved from the senior national team to the Black Satellites, where he will serve as Assistant Coach.

He will work with the U20 technical team as they prepare for next year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations.

Godwin Attram has also been appointed Assistant Coach of the Black Stars, replacing Desmond Ofei.

The former PSV Eindhoven and Silkeborg IF midfielder brings previous coaching experience, including a spell as head coach of Great Olympics and involvement with Ghana’s youth national teams.

Ofei will now focus exclusively on the Black Meteors as head coach, having previously combined responsibilities with the Black Stars and the U20 setup.

Former Black Stars Team Manager Ameenu Shardow has also been appointed Head of the GFA’s Strategic Diaspora Program.

He will lead efforts to identify and engage Ghanaian players abroad while strengthening relationships with diaspora clubs, academies and communities.

The GFA says the changes form part of a broader technical restructuring aimed at improving focus and efficiency across Ghana’s various national teams.
