Minister of Lands and Natural Resources Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah has commemorated the 117th birthday of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, calling on Ghanaians to uphold his vision for Ghana and Africa.
In a message marking Nkrumah’s birthday and Founder’s Day, on September 21, 2026, Buah said the occasion should go beyond remembering the former president’s achievements and inspire efforts to build a stronger future.

“His legacy asks more of us than remembrance. It asks us to build,” he said.
He called for the building of “a Ghana confident in its own ability” and “an Africa united in purpose”, while urging citizens to think about generations yet to come.
“The fire was lit in Nkroful. Our responsibility is to carry it forward,” Buah said.
Founder’s Day commemorates the birthday of Dr Nkrumah.
