Former President John Agyekum Kufuor paid a courtesy call on Nana Yaa Akyaa II, the Asantehemaa, at Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Friday, September 18, 2026.

The video shared by the official Manhyia Palace account captures moments of interaction, with Kufuor gesturing as they conversed, while other dignitaries and palace officials observed from nearby seats.

The video footage also captures the formal meeting, showing the former president seated in a red upholstered chair opposite the Asantehemaa, who sat on an ornate golden throne.

Both wore traditional attire in a lavishly decorated palace hall featuring chandeliers, gold furnishings, and attendants.

The visit comes amid a series of recent courtesy calls on the new queen mother by political figures and groups, including NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the previous day.

Nana Yaa Akyaa II (born Odehyie Ama Bonsu) was enstooled as the 15th Asantehemaa on July 6, 2026.

She succeeded Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who passed away in August 2025 after serving since 2017.

The new queen mother adopted the historic stool name Nana Yaa Akyaa II, previously held by an earlier Asantehemaa who reigned from 1884 to 1917.
