Sports Minister Kofi Adams has clarified that the Black Stars management committee spent $250,000 during Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, instead of the $272,000 allocated to the committee.

Speaking at a briefing on expenditure related to Ghana’s participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, Adams said the approved budget allocated $272,000 to the management committee, but only $250,000 was utilised.

“The budget allocated $272,000 for the Black Stars management committee, but we utilized $250,000,” Kofi Adams explained.

He also disclosed that the ministry introduced a policy barring members of the management committee from receiving winning bonuses during the World Cup qualifiers.

“Again, we had a policy that the management committee members would not be entitled to winning bonuses as it used to be the case,” he said.

Adams said the policy was applied throughout the qualifying campaign, with management committee members receiving no bonuses for matches won by the Black Stars.

“So, during the qualifiers, all the games we played and won, the management committee members did not receive anything as the players and other technical officials were receiving as winning bonuses,” he added.

“The budget allocated $272,000 for the Black Stars management committee, but we utilized $250,000.”
