Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare, has hosted the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, during the fourth UNESCO Global Forum on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence in Riyadh.

Sam George represented President John Dramani Mahama at the four-day global forum, which was held in the Saudi capital from September 14 to 17, 2026.

The forum, co-hosted by UNESCO and Saudi Arabia, brings together policymakers, technology experts and other stakeholders to discuss the ethical governance and responsible development and use of artificial intelligence.

In a Facebook post, Ambassador Sinare said he was “profoundly honoured and immensely thrilled” to host the minister, describing Ghana’s participation as an opportunity for the country to contribute to the international conversation on responsible artificial intelligence.

“As Ghana’s Ambassador to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, it was a great privilege to welcome and host the Honourable Minister as he represented Ghana and the President at this important global gathering, bringing Ghana’s voice to the international conversation on the responsible development and use of Artificial Intelligence,” the post read.

According to the ambassador, Ghana remains committed to responsible digital governance, stronger international cooperation and innovation that puts people, ethics and inclusive development at the centre of digital transformation.



He noted that Artificial Intelligence presents significant opportunities for humanity but said those opportunities should be harnessed in a manner that ensures the benefits of technological advancement are shared broadly.

“Artificial Intelligence presents enormous opportunities for humanity, but these opportunities must be harnessed responsibly and equitably to ensure that no individual, community or nation is left behind,” Ambassador Sinare said.

The 2026 forum is being held under the theme “Transforming Global Cooperation for Ethical AI Governance”, with discussions focusing on how countries can move from shared principles on AI ethics to practical implementation.

UNESCO has said the event marks five years since the adoption of its Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence.



The forum is also examining issues including AI governance, capacity building, responsible innovation and international cooperation, amid the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence across economies and societies.

Ambassador Sinare said Ghana, under President Mahama’s leadership, would continue to contribute to global efforts to shape the responsible use of AI.

“Under the leadership of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, Ghana remains committed to contributing meaningfully to shaping the global conversation on responsible Artificial Intelligence and ensuring that technological advancement serves humanity and promotes inclusive development,” he said.
