'Confidence starts with seeing and trusting your holdings' – BoG Governor

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has joined the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) to launch investorConnect, a digital platform that allows investors to access their securities and transaction records directly.

According to a Facebook post by the BoG Governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, the platform allows investors to open accounts, verify their identities using the Ghana Card and view their securities and transaction history.

The Governor said the platform would reduce investors’ reliance on third parties for information about their investments.

“For investors, this means real, direct access to their own records, no more relying solely on someone else to tell them what they own,” he said.

Dr Asiama said giving investors direct access to their records was important for building confidence in the capital market.

“Confidence in a market starts with investors being able to see and trust their own holdings,” he added.

He said a more transparent capital market would also help provide long-term financing for Ghana’s economic development.

“Ghana cannot finance long-term growth from short-term deposits and bank credit alone,” he said.

Dr Asiama further pointed out that a deeper capital market could give businesses and the government greater access to long-term capital while supporting savings, investment and sustainable growth.
