A video circulating on social media shows a cordial and humorous exchange between former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and popular media personality and New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter MC Ishmael during a courtesy visit to the former president’s office.

In a clip shared by SIKA OFFICIAL on X on September 17, 2026, MC Ishmael was seen highlighting concerns surrounding the ongoing Senior High School placement exercise.

Speaking animatedly, he turned to former President Akufo-Addo and expressed gratitude on behalf of past students, saying they remained thankful for the opportunities provided during his tenure.

“Nana, parents say thank you. Their wards are done with JHS, yet they cannot get schools to attend, so they said they miss you,” MC Ishmael said, as Akufo-Addo giggled.

The video has since attracted reactions on social media, with some users questioning the motive behind the interaction.

While some asked whether the former president was aware of the students’ actual grades, others suggested that MC Ishmael’s comments were motivated by self-interest.

The interaction comes amid ongoing public concerns over the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) exercise.

Education authorities have reported that the majority of qualified candidates have already been placed, with automatic placements reaching hundreds of thousands.

However, some parents continue to report difficulties relating to their preferred schools, residential status and the self-placement process for candidates who were not matched automatically.

Officials from the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service have maintained that sufficient vacancies exist across the system and have attributed much of the pressure to high demand for Category A schools.

Resolution centres have also been established nationwide to address outstanding placement cases ahead of the start of the academic year.
