The Chief Executive Officer of STEMAIDE Africa, Prince Boateng Asare, has called on the government and other stakeholders to collaborate with the private sector to address challenges affecting Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana.

According to him, while the government has placed increasing emphasis on STEM education, there is a need to provide students with the appropriate tools and practical resources to make the teaching and learning of STEM subjects more effective.

He said the initiative was intended to complement government’s efforts to promote STEM education across the country.

“So, we are pleading with the government to help us so that we can also help the government to ensure that STEM education goes on well in the country,” he said.

He noted that discussions about promoting STEM education must also address the availability of practical tools for students.

“The government is talking about STEM education, but what tools are the children going to use to learn some of these STEM-related courses?” he asked.

Drawing a comparison with traditional learning materials, he said the STEMAIDE Kits were designed to serve as practical tools that would enable children to better understand STEM concepts.

“Think about something like a math set. So now we also have STEM kits which will help the children to learn,” he said.

Prince Boateng Asare made the call during the launch of the STEMAIDE Kits, a range of practical learning tools designed to help children develop skills in STEM-related areas through hands-on learning.

The STEMAIDE product launch featured four kits, each focused on a different area of STEM education.

The STEMAIDE AIDER Kit is designed around artificial intelligence and electronics, encouraging children to build, learn and innovate.

The STEMAIDE Coder Pro Kit focuses on coding and is intended to help children develop programming skills and explore how coding can be applied to the world around them.

The STEMAIDE Pilot Kit introduces learners to aviation and drones, with an emphasis on exploration, building and flying.

The STEMAIDE Rover Kit, meanwhile, focuses on robotics and allows learners to explore concepts involving building, coding and robotics.

The initiative is being presented under the theme “STEM for a Brighter Africa”, with STEMAIDE Africa describing the kits as tools aimed at equipping young people with practical skills to participate in the technological development of the continent.
