The State Insurance Company (SIC) building in Takoradi has been partially engulfed in flames, with the fire destroying sections of the upper floors, according to reports and video footage circulating on social media.

Video footage shared by Base Africa TV on X on September 16, 2026, shows the building with smoke pouring from the upper levels, while firefighters on the ground and elevated platforms direct water onto the affected areas. Bystanders could also be seen observing the incident from a distance.

Fire Service officials, including personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority Port of Takoradi Fire Brigade, arrived at the scene and are working to bring the blaze under control while preventing it from spreading further.

Multiple fire tenders and firefighters have been deployed, using hoses to battle thick black smoke billowing from the multi-storey structure.

The structure, painted in blue, pink and white tones, appears to have sustained damage primarily to its upper floors.
