Mohammed Kudus has been handed his first Tottenham start in 257 days as the Ghana international returns to action against Liverpool in the Carabao Cup at Anfield on Tuesday, September 15, 2026.

Kudus’ return comes as a major boost for Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi, who has confirmed that the 26-year-old is fit enough to start the third-round tie.

The Ghanaian has endured a difficult spell on the sidelines after suffering a thigh injury earlier in 2026, with his fitness issues disrupting his progress at Tottenham. He was subsequently forced to miss Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.

Kudus has made brief appearances since returning to the Tottenham squad but Tuesday’s clash represents his first opportunity to start a competitive match for the club in 257 days.

His availability is particularly significant for Ghana, with the Black Stars preparing for their upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia.

De Zerbi has previously spoken positively about Kudus’ condition, with reports indicating that the forward had been cleared to start against Liverpool following his return to training.

Tottenham enter the match searching for a much-needed attacking spark after failing to score in their opening four Premier League games of the season.

For Kudus, the Anfield clash offers a crucial opportunity to regain rhythm, build his match fitness and put himself in strong condition ahead of Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers.
