Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder has praised Ghana captain Jordan Ayew following his debut for the club in their clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Ayew came off the bench with 15 minutes remaining as Sheffield United secured a point against Wolves, with Wilder impressed by the experience and quality the Ghana international brought to the side.

According to Wilder, Ayew demonstrated his experience, quality and attitude during his brief appearance and believes the forward will continue to improve as he settles into the team.

“We have signed an experienced player and he showed his experience. He showed his quality and his attitude, and Jordan will be better for that,” Wilder said.

The Sheffield United boss also praised Ben Brereton Díaz for his contribution, while explaining that Ayew’s introduction was influenced by the need to manage the fitness of Romelu Lukaku.

Wilder expressed frustration over an earlier challenge involving Lukaku, saying the incident altered his plans for the match.

Despite the result, Wilder said Sheffield United got several important aspects of their game right, particularly their attitude, mentality, energy levels and tactical approach.

“We got right, in my opinion, the things we can control the attitude, the mentality, the energy levels and the tactical part of it,” he added.
