A man accused of stealing plantains, cassava and other foodstuffs at Begoro Christom in the Fanteakwa North District of the Eastern Region was subsequently paraded through parts of the town by the alleged owner of the stolen items.

In a video sighted by GhanaWeb on September 10, 2026, the suspect is seen carrying the foodstuffs he allegedly stole on his head as he walks through the town, reportedly to show the owner where he was taking the items to.

A group of people can also be seen in the footage following the suspected thief, and a man believed to be the owner of the items holds a cane as he walks behind him.

The suspect is heard saying, “I am a thief,” after which the man believed to be the owner strikes him with the cane and appears to ask him to say it louder.

While suspected thieves are usually taken to the police station, the man believed to be the owner of the foodstuffs instead paraded him through parts of the town.

Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the incident of the theft were not disclosed in the footage.
