The John Boadu Campaign has described Chairman Wontumi’s decision to endorse John Boadu’s candidature for National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as a ‘powerful statement of confidence’ and a significant call for unity within the party.

In a statement dated September 9, 2026, the campaign said the endorsement went beyond an ordinary show of political support, stressing that it came at a critical moment when the party needed to unite around its broader interests.

“This gesture is much more than an endorsement. It is a powerful statement of confidence in John Boadu’s leadership and, more importantly, a significant call for unity at a critical moment in the history of our Party,” the campaign stated.

The campaign said it had received the support with “humility, gratitude and a deep sense of responsibility,” while expressing its readiness to work with Wontumi’s team and other party stakeholders to rebuild the NPP’s unity and strengthen its structures.

According to the campaign, the ultimate objective is to build an ‘electorally formidable NPP’ capable of returning the party to power and ensuring that its flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, becomes President in 2029.

It said this objective must transcend individual ambitions and unite party members around what it described as the larger interest of the NPP and the future of Ghana.

The Boadu campaign also assured Chairman Wontumi that his commitment and sacrifices to the party would not be forgotten, pledging that a John Boadu-led NPP would work with the party’s flagbearer and legal team to pursue all legitimate legal avenues in the pending appeal and advocate for his earliest possible release, consistent with due process and the rule of law.

The campaign expressed gratitude to Wontumi’s team for putting the unity and collective interest of the NPP ahead of individual considerations.

“Together, we shall rebuild. Together, we shall unite. Together, we shall win,” the statement indicated.
