A parent has questioned why his child was placed at the Mampong School for the Deaf in the Eastern Region despite being able to hear and speak, as frustrations over the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) continue to mount.

Speaking in an interview with TV3 on September 8, 2026, the parent, who was at the National Placement Resolution Centre at the GNAT Hall in Accra, expressed frustration over the situation.

“He can hear, he can speak. How do you go and place him at Akropong School for the Deaf? That's what I don't understand. Why?” he said.

According to him, when he sought clarification from officials, he was told that securing a Category B or STEM school for his child would require protocol.

“And I asked them, they said if my child wants Category B or STEM school, only protocol,” he said.

Asked what he intended to do next, the frustrated parent said he had little choice but to accept a Category C school for his child.

“They asked me whether I wanted Category C school, because I don't have any option. I said then, they should give him a Category C school,” he said.

Meanwhile, large numbers of parents and students are seeking solutions to challenges with the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) in the Greater Accra Region.

Beyond the congestion and long queues, parents have also raised concerns about what they describe as inadequate communication and direction at the placement centre.

They are calling for a more decentralised system to reduce the pressure on the GNAT Hall.

The parents believe establishing additional resolution centres across Greater Accra would help reduce waiting times and make it easier for families to resolve placement challenges before the commencement of the new academic year.
