Nigeria was Ghana’s third-largest source of new investments in 2025, contributing US$104.68 million to Ghana’s investment inflows, according to the 2025 FDI Report.

Ghana attracted more than US$2.6 billion in foreign direct investment (FDI) across 254 projects during the year, with Nigeria accounting for a significant share of the new investments.

Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Baba Sadiq Abdulai Abu, has pledged to increase Nigeria’s contribution to Ghana’s investment landscape as part of the “Ghana in Nigeria” agenda.

He made the pledge following a courtesy meeting with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Simon Madjie, ahead of his departure for Abuja.

The meeting focused on strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between Ghana and Nigeria, with particular attention to investment promotion, trade and opportunities for businesses from both countries.

The High Commissioner said the latest investment figures demonstrated significant room for growth in Ghana-Nigeria economic relations.

“These numbers point to an even greater opportunity. Strengthening economic diplomacy will be a key priority for Ghana in Nigeria,” he said.

Under the Ghana in Nigeria agenda, the High Commission intends to work closely with GIPC and other stakeholders to attract more Nigerian investment into Ghana, deepen bilateral trade and create stronger opportunities for Ghanaian businesses to enter and expand in the Nigerian market.

The agenda seeks to position the Ghana High Commission not only as a diplomatic representation but also as a platform for connecting businesses, investors and institutions across both markets.

Baba Sadiq said the objective was to translate Ghana and Nigeria’s longstanding political and cultural ties into stronger commercial partnerships and shared prosperity.

“Our two countries already share a strong relationship. The opportunity before us is to build an even stronger economic partnership.”
