Policy analyst and convener of the OneGhana Movement, Senyo Hosi, has criticised President John Dramani Mahama over his recent dissolution of several state boards, describing the move as lacking transparency and accountability.

According to him, the letter announcing the dissolution failed to provide any explanation to the public, stressing that Ghanaians deserve clarity on such decisions.

Hosi, while speaking on a panel discussion on Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, September 5, 2026, acknowledged that the president has the constitutional authority to appoint and dismiss officials, but maintained that the reasons behind such bold actions must be communicated openly to the nation.

"The absence of clarity will be the undoing of this bold decision. It lacks transparency because it didn't explain why it was fired. The president is not exercising his personal power. Nobody disputes that he has the power to hire or fire...if you are not telling us why, then where is the accountability?" he said.

"He exercises power on behalf of us, the people, so when you take bold steps like this, we can't condemn him for not telling us the reasons. It is only proper that good governance is raised to the highest level," Hosi added.

Hosi's remarks come following September 2, 2026, when President Mahama dissolved the governing boards of nine state‑owned institutions with immediate effect.

The affected entities included Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), Ghana Post Company Limited, the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, TDC Ghana Limited, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), and the National Sports Authority (NSA).

A statement issued by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, directed the relevant sector ministers to oversee day‑to‑day operations until new boards are reconstituted.

However, no official reason was provided for the dissolution, sparking debate among analysts and political commentators about transparency and accountability in governance.
