Policy Analyst Senyo Hosi has criticised the decision by President John Dramani Mahama to dissolve the boards of some state-owned enterprises (SOEs), describing it as lacking transparency.

Speaking on The Key Points on TV3 on Saturday, September 5, 2026, he said the decision was not the best for the country because the Presidency had not provided reasons for the dissolution.

"The absence of clarity will be the undoing of this bold decision; it lacks transparency because it didn't explain why he was fired. The president is not exercising his personal power,” he stated.

Senyo Hosi acknowledged that President Mahama has the authority to appoint or remove officials, but said the exercise of that power must be accompanied by accountability to the people.

“Nobody disputes that he has the power to hire or fire...if you are not telling us why, then where is the accountability?” He questioned.

He explained that the President exercises his authority on behalf of the Ghanaian people and must therefore provide clarity when taking major decisions affecting public institutions.

"He exercises power on behalf of us, the people, so when you take bold steps like this, we can't condemn him for not telling us the reasons. It is only proper that good governance is raised to the highest level," he said.
