Police at Barekese in the Ashanti Region have arrested a woman identified as Sister Afia for allegedly biting and injuring the ear of her tenant during a physical confrontation at Fufuo, a community in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District.

The incident is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement involving the children of the two households, according to a myjoyonline.com report.

According to the victim’s family, the dispute began after Yaa Achiaa, the tenant, warned her daughter against playing with the landlord’s children following an incident in which one of them allegedly injured her.

The disagreement reportedly started on Monday, August 31, but escalated into a physical confrontation on Thursday, September 3.

Speaking to the media, Blessing Osei, the victim’s eldest daughter, alleged that Sister Afia bit her mother’s ear during the confrontation, causing injuries that required medical attention.

She explained that some residents intervened and separated the two women. According to her, Sister Afia and her husband subsequently went to the Barekese Police Station to report the matter, where the landlord’s wife was arrested.

“My mother was taken to the hospital for medical attention after the incident, while Sister Afia was arrested at the police station,” Osei said.

She further alleged that tensions between the two families had existed for some time, claiming that Sister Afia had repeatedly verbally abused her mother before the latest incident.

Osei also claimed that she was attacked and threatened when she attempted to intervene and separate the two women during the altercation.

She said she was forced to leave the scene and seek refuge at a friend’s residence.

Yaa Achiaa is currently receiving treatment at the Barekese Hospital.

Sister Afia remains in police custody as investigations continue into the incident.

Police are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and assess the accounts presented by both parties as part of their investigations.
